The Polish Lowland Sheepdog, also known as the PON, is a Polish breed of shepherd dog. In the past, it was used for herding sheep and guarding. Currently, it is great in dog sports that require agility, energy and speed (such as agility); thanks to its excellent sense of smell, it can also be successful in sniffing competitions, such as Nose Work.

Due to its innate distrust, the PON requires intensive socialization, contact with various people, places, means of transport. When it comes to sensitivity to sounds (such as storms or fireworks), our PONs (bought in various breeding farms) have never shown fear or excessive sensitivity to gunshots, and we have not trained them in this direction.

The Polish Lowland Sheepdog is a muscular, medium-sized dog; for adult females: 42-47 cm, and for adult males: 45-50 cm tall.

Although the standard does not specify the weight, the PON weighs between 18 and even 30 kilograms.

A characteristic feature of the breed is a naturally short or vestigial tail, although many puppies are born with a long tail.

The Polish Lowland Sheepdog has abundant coats of various colors (black and white, black and white, white with markings, gray, gray and white, brown, fawn, etc.). The PON's fur, commonly called hair, grows all the time and is not replaced in winter or summer, as in the case of the Tatra Sheepdog.

The Polish Lowland Sheepdog is a very intelligent dog, eager to learn and requiring daily walks, where it can freely sniff around.

As for distances, it can walk a few or even a dozen or so kilometers, at its own pace; definitely not suitable as a companion for a marathon or intensive cycling. Activities should be selected wisely and taking into account the dog's age and individual predispositions.

They are usually gentle towards other animals and distrustful of unfamiliar people. PONs are very vigilant guards.
